5 Minutes with…Laura Langley

Laura has been with PM Hospitality LTD for over 4 years now. She started working at the weekends as a member of our waiting staff whilst studying at university, which she enjoyed so much she decided to stay. Laura has now advanced to Event Manager, keeping busy planning and leading your special day. We stole her away for 5 minutes to ask for some sage advice.

What do you love most about the lead up the big day?

I love when couples come by a few days before to drop off their decorations and discuss any final details. It is always so lovely to see their theme, style and colour scheme, I have seen many weddings but no two are ever the same.

What do you look forward to during the day itself?

I really look forward to speeches. There are always some laughs, especially from the Best Man and Father of the Bride. The Grooms speech is often very sweet and heartfelt. On several occasions the Groom has thanked me and my team during his speech, which is really kind and much appreciated.

When it comes to decorating the venue, do you think ‘less is more’ or ‘go all out’?

Definitely less is more, especially in The Watermill, it has so much character it doesn’t need much decorating which is part of its charm. The Tythe Barn can accommodate a little more, especially in the main room. We recently had an Interior Designer get married with us and she did a beautiful job, she had a myriad of decorations but it didn’t look cluttered at all.

What is your top tip to planning a seamless wedding day?

Trust your Event Manager! Don’t try and do too much yourselves, relax and try not worry too much about things that are out of you control, that is what we are here for.

Where Love Blossoms

IMG_1414

We cannot absolutely guarantee sunshine for your wedding day. However, a little rain can conjure the most beautiful blooms and our gardens are testament to that.

With the ever-changing weather we’ve had so far this year, we’ve been blessed with an early blossoming of the most gorgeous garden flowers – a perfect backdrop for photographs on your special day.

With this in mind, one of our top tips to save a few pennies is to use flowers which have been locally grown, rather than imported, for your bouquets and bunches. These ‘Garden flowers’, freshly picked and in season, are especially popular at Priston Mill. Although we are only 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Bath here you feel wonderfully remote from the hustle and bustle of the city. For this reason arrangements and bouquets made with seasonal flowers blend perfectly with the rustic charm of the venue and the surrounding Somerset countryside.

What about a Winter Wedding?

      IMG_6180

It may seem strange to be thinking of Winter when we finally have a glimpse of sun, but for those who plan to marry among the robins and red berries, Winter is very much on the mind!

We have a fabulous Winter Wedding Offer from November to March* which lowers the venue hire considerably and includes our ceremony charge (where applicable). You are also welcome to a complimentary reception drink per person!

Why not take advantage of the cold and enjoy a mulled wine, or Winter Pimms before sitting down to a seasonal 3 course dinner. Then into the night when you’ve danced up an appetite, you could bring in a little alpine chic and serve a Tartiflette.

We do have availability in both The Tythe Barn and The Watermill from November 2016 to March 2017, so it is not too late to book!
